Easy installation – step-by-step guide

For trees with large root balls (over 80 cm) or limited space:

  1. Dig a hole at least 70 cm deep. If the root ball is taller, add 10 cm to its height for the hole depth.
  2. The width should be at least the diameter of the root ball + 60 cm, in a square shape.
  3. Arrange the stone wool batts in a square around the root ball. Trim to fit as needed.
  4. If space is limited, place batts wherever there is room – full enclosure is not required.
  5. Backfill with planting soil on the inside and sand or soil on the outside, up to the height where the top of the root ball will sit (approx. 10 cm below ground level).
  6. Place the tree in the centre and simultaneously backfill with planting soil inside and sand/soil outside.
  7. Compact the soil thoroughly to ensure stability.
  8. Secure the tree with 2–3 stakes placed on the inside of the stone wool batts.
  9. For heavy clay soils, a macadam base beneath the batts is recommended.
  10. Finish by adding 100–120 litres of water per stone wool batt.

For trees in poor condition or with root damage:

  1. Dig a hole approx. 70 cm deep and 25–30 cm wide between large roots or near damaged areas.
  2. For general poor condition: place stone wool batts in a cross pattern radiating from the tree, without coming too close to the trunk.
  3. For damaged roots: place batts at the end of the affected roots.
  4. Trim damaged roots close to the batt placement.
  5. Insert the batts and cover the hole with existing soil or replace poor soil.
  6. Finish by adding 100–120 litres of water per stone wool batt.

For planting beds:

  1. Dig a hole approx. 40 cm deep, depending on root ball size.
  2. Place the stone wool batts flat at the bottom of the hole.
  3. For root ball plants: position the plants on top of the batts and fill with planting soil to ground level.
  4. For bare-root plants: first fill with planting soil, then plant directly into the soil.
  5. Finish by adding 100–120 litres of water per stone wool batt.

Tip: Stone wool batts offer an effective solution to improve growing conditions in demanding soil environments.
