New trees and hedges in Helsinge

Establishment of 1.5 km hedge and 30 large lime trees in Skovlinden

BOXofGREEN was contacted in the spring of 2025, as they faced one of the more significant challenges at the new development Skovlinden just outside Helsinge in North Zealand: The new residential area needed to be completed within a very tight schedule. Since the 29 new homes were built on a former field with poor soil conditions, it raised concerns: Could trees and bushes truly thrive here?

The task

The project included:

  • 1.5 kilometers of cherry laurel hedge – approximately 4,500 plants.
  • 30 large lime trees, delivered at a size that required special care during establishment.

The plants had already been ordered, and work needed to commence immediately to meet the developer's deadline.
BOXofGREEN enlisted the landscaping company Grønnne Leverum, led by Tue Højdahl, to handle the establishment.
To address the poor soil conditions, BOXofGREEN’s growth products were utilized – both as batts under the hedges and as boxes around the root zones of the lime trees. The products help ensure optimal water and oxygen balance and give the plants a strong start despite challenging growth conditions.

The result after six months

Already six months after planting, the vegetation is impressively thriving:

  • Out of the 4,500 cherry laurel bushes, there is only one single plant showing signs of weakening.
The lime trees show healthy growth, have developed long shoot extensions, and now display a beautiful leaf fall, indicating a strong establishment.
  • The developer is completely satisfied, and the area appears green, healthy, and inviting.

"A good growth product"

For Tue Højdahl and Grønnne Leverum, the project is not only a professionally strong outcome but also a rewarding collaboration:
“Working with BOXofGREEN and their growth media when planting hedges and tree plantings is very satisfying, as BOXofGREEN’s material works as intended. And seeing the beautiful area planted, finished, and in full bloom is a great pleasure.”
