Help with large trees
On the Boulevard in Vejle, there is a long row of lime trees in the median. Although they have been there for many years, they are still struggling to survive, as the soil makes the surface water run off quickly. Therefore, they rely on being artificially watered every single year to thrive.
Our method for helping the trees is simply to have four loose BOXofGREEN batts buried around each of the selected trees. The batts assist the tree by absorbing and retaining rainwater, which both strengthens the root system and significantly reduces the need for irrigation – from many annual waterings to only three waterings in 2024. The batts are placed along the large roots, and the burial has been done as carefully as possible to avoid damage to the root network.
Just after the first growing season, the results are clear – the trees that were supported with BOXofGREEN batts already have significantly longer shoot extensions compared to the trees that stand without batts and are still being traditionally watered.
