Why AirTap?

AirTap saves upto 70% in energy consumption in comparison to conventional gas or electric water heaters. By saving energy in abundance, it has a significant impact on households’  utilities bill while doing the environment a service.
AirTap has received multiple endorsements and the US Department of Energy offers rebate incentives for households that use AirTap in place of their current water heater.

How does AirTap work?

AirTap uses a patent pending method that draws energy from air and uses it to heat water.
Air Tap maybe mounted on an existing water tank where it acts as a conventional heat pump, using a compressor (powered by a low-wattage electric current) to extract heat from the surrounding air, and then sending this heat through long copper tubes into an adaptor where it is dispersed in the water tank. This, in turn, heats the water to the same degree as would a gas burner or electric heating component, distributing hot water throughout homes safely and efficiently.

If it takes four units of energy to heat water, AirTap utilizes one unit from an electric outlet, and three units from the surrounding air, reducing energy consumption by 2.5 times vis-a-vis water heaters in use currently.

How does AirTap measure up to...

Solar heaters?

Solar heaters are not as cost-effective as the AirTap. While the AirTap is easy and inexpensive to install, operate and maintain, setting up a solar water heater is costly and laborious.
External space, necessary to mount solar panels, is simply not available in urban cities with a concentration of high-rise apartments. The AirTap is a 17"W x 15"D x 12"H unit which is simply attached to the existing water tank inside a home.
Solar heaters require electricity to operate when conditions are cloudy. Hence in actual effect, AirTap compares favourably to solar water heaters in terms of energy consumption and eco-friendliness.

Instant heaters?

Along with an initial cost that is significantly less than that of an instant water heater, AirTap uses three times less energy in comparison.
The potential for electric overloads caused by tankless water heaters often force owners to make expensive investments to electric panels. While consumers typically buy tankless sytems for its ability to provide unlimited hot water, AirTap can do the same for a fraction of the cost and energy.

Air vent

When AirTap is in use, it releases cool air from its top vent. This cool air can be harnessed and utilized as an alternate means of air conditioning for your home by simply attaching a duct – the AirVent. It  includes 6 feet of flexible duct that can be attached directly to an air conditioning line in the house, or can be used to release the cool air from the other end of the AirVent freely.

Additional Requirements:

  • AirTap needs at least 5" clearance on the top.
  • AirTap should be installed indoors.
  • Water heater must be installed near a drain available to expel condensate captured during air energy processing. During periods of high humidity, the level of condensate can be up to 1 quart per day.
  • The AirTap will operate under extremely cold conditions, but it is not recommended to install the unit in a location where the ambient temperature is below 35° F or 2° C mostly mostly, as the efficiency of the unit in such conditions will drop by approximately 50%.
